In May 2025, Ninveh Mansour (JD 2026), and Chandra Ingram (JD 2025), two of the students of the International Human Rights Center, presented a parallel report on Syria to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
The report calls the Committees attention to the plight of stateless children, caused by the fact that under Syrian law only males can register and give citizenship to their children. After almost 15 years of civil war, countless fathers disappeared or died before they could register their offsprings, leaving them stateless. The report urges the CEDAW Committee to push Syria to make it possible for women, too, to register their children.
