What do you enjoy most about working at LLS CDO?
Meeting with students and learning about their "why" - why law school and what they hope to do with a career in law--while helping them move closer to that goal.
What was your life like before coming to LLS?
Life before LLS was both similar and different. I was still serving students as a career counselor, but my focus was on undergraduates pursuing a wide range of career paths—including marine biology, the arts, dance, medicine, and, of course, law to name a few.
What’s the best career advice you ever received?
Say yes to yourself, even if you don’t feel ready - said to me by a Higher Ed professional during an informational interview as I transitioned from law to Higher Education.
This helped me a lot when I pivoted from law to higher education. I often felt like I didn’t have the right experience and would say things like, “I don’t have experience in…” I see this with students too—imposter syndrome makes us say no to ourselves before anyone else can. The truth is: just go for it. Apply for the job, know your strengths, work on what you want to improve, and learn how to articulate to employers the value you bring.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, you’ll usually find me with family, friends, and my two dogs, Arson and Goku—on a hike, at the gym (hopefully not having to do any burpees/running), exploring new coffee shops, or heading out on spontaneous day trips to explore new places or visit long distance friends.
What’s a fun fact most people don’t know about you?
A fun fact that most people don't know: I don't enjoy structured comedy, which some find odd because I'm usually always laughing, but planned humor is just not my thing.
It's between Mexican and Thai cuisine.
