Spotlight Q & A
Where is your hometown?
Chino, California. I truly love Southern California and have not moved far since birth!
What do you enjoy most about working at LLS CDO?
What I enjoy most about working in the CDO at LLS is the opportunity to meet so many amazing students! Watching students begin as 1Ls, going through the Virtual Interview Program (VIP) in the spring, to matriculating to 2Ls with many taking on the challenge of the Summer Virtual Interview Program! It's incredible to watch the progression and growth that students make. My absolute favorite part of the journey is when students come back and chat with me about their experiences and what they'll be doing next.
What was your life like before coming to LLS?
Prior to joining the LLS community, I was the Coordinator of Career Development at La Verne Law. That position led me here, which was absolutely amazing! While I was interviewing for the position at LLS, we were in the middle of the pandemic, and life was hectic. I had to slow down because life forced me to, and in turn I came to appreciate things in life I had previously taken for granted.
What's the best career advice you ever received?
One of my mentors advised me to take all networking opportunities. Making those connections has proved invaluable to my career and I always pass that information along to students, any chance I have!
What advice would you give to a student just starting law school?
From what I've witnessed working in the law school setting, many first year students are excited and eager to begin their journey to finding the career path that fits them best. While it is wonderful that these students are motivated, I would suggest focusing on academics and getting acclimated to law school in general. There will be plenty of time by the end of your first year to give that energy to your proposed career path and job search. Insert my plug for the Virtual Interview Program. Tons of details to come for all first years!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I enjoy visiting the beach. For me, it is an especially calming place where I can find my center. During the early winter months, I love heading up to the local mountains and taking hikes.
What's your favorite cuisine?
For my favorite cuisine, it is difficult to just pick one. There's a major tie between Japanese and Mexican food. I don't think I would be able to choose one!
