Attorney Oath — Loyola's' Swearing-In Ceremony

If you plan on participating in LMU Loyola Law School’s swearing-in ceremony and would like to have the presiding judge certify your New Licensee Registration and Attorney Oath form, you will need to upload your form when registering for the ceremony. Registration for the ceremony will open after bar results are released on May 3.

The State Bar of California emailed to all eligible applicants a DocuSign Link as part of your Attorney’s Oath packet. If you have not received it yet, please check your junk/spam/bulk email folder or send an email to admissions@calbar.ca.gov. You will need to provide your complete and full name plus your file number. You may also log in to your Admissions Profile and send a message as well. More information is available here

Before you upload your oath form when registering, please make sure you follow the step-by-step instructions found by clicking here.

LLS will email the signed oath cards to the State Bar after they have been certified, dated, and signed by the judge.

Attorney Oath - Alternate Certification

You can also take the oath and certify your oath form on your own prior to LLS’s swearing-in ceremony, and still attend as a ceremonial gesture. You do not need to submit another oath form after taking the ceremonial oath. There are a number of officials in California who are authorized to administer the oath. Click here to view the full list. Please note the membership fee schedule below if you plan to certify your oath form on your own.

You have the option to be sworn into the U.S. District Court. Should you wish to take the federal oath, you are responsible for submitting your application and paying the application fee. For more information, please click here.

Federal Application

If you would like to apply for admission into the Bar of the Central District of California, you will need to complete the Application for Admission to the Bar of the Central District of California online and pay the application fee.

Fees

All new attorneys start as active attorneys and will have to pay annual licensing fees. Your first year’s fees are based on your date of admission, which is the date when you take your oath. To review any fee scaling, refer to rule 2.15 of the Rules of the State Bar of California.
