Edwin Salguero

Edwin Salguero is a bilingual Senior Conflict Resolution Associate/Mediator.  Edwin received his BA in Sociology from California State University Northridge. While attending school, he worked as a Special Education Assistant for LAUSD assisting children with learning and emotional disabilities. After graduation, Edwin worked at Child and Family Guidance Center as a Therapeutic Behavioral Services Specialist.  Here he gained invaluable experience working with diverse families, children of all ages, and a variety of mental health and educational professionals.

Edwin’s desire to use his understanding of family dynamics and mental health in a legal setting led him to apply to Loyola Law School’s Evening Division. His mediation journey began as a law student enrolled in Professor Sara Campos’ Mediation Advocacy class. There, he acquired the fundamentals of mediation as well as an understanding about how attorneys and clients can utilize mediation to resolve legal conflicts without having to set foot in a courtroom or give up their power to decide how to settle a conflict. Edwin’s classroom experience piqued his interest in Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Mediation in particular. Edwin joined the LCCR’s Dependency Court Mediation Clinic during his third year. As a Student-Mediator Edwin pulled from his mental health background and assisted parents in working through their difference in order to create an enduring parenting plan. LCCR hired Edwin that same year.  In 2020, while mediating professionally and carrying a full plate of responsibilities, Edwin excelled as a student and overcame the additional challenges brought on by the pandemic. All his hard work paid off when he passed the October 2020 California Bar Exam.

Currently, Edwin assists residents of Los Angeles County in all three of the LCCR Clinics.  Edwin has honed and further advanced his mediating skills with the opportunity to mediate international custody disputes via Zoom. Edwin also continues to mediate at the Dependency Court.  Further, he is LCCR’s liaison to the Collaborative Family Law Clinic in which he coordinates and mediates divorces with a collaborative team of professionals from Los Angeles Collaborative Family Law Association (LACFLA).
