Conversion of grades for JSD and MLS students

Grades for JSD and MLS students are reported on transcripts as follows:

 

Excellent

Very Good

Good

Fair

No pass

 

The grade normalization system used by the law school does not generate grades using these descriptors. Instead, the grades reported are traditional letter grades, e.g. A+, A, A-. Faculty must convert these traditional letter grades to the descriptors identified above for JSD and MLS students.  The following informal chart is provided to faculty is not binding; it is provided merely to give faculty some general guidelines to assist them in grade conversion for JSD and MLS students.

Excellent

B+, B, B-

Very Good

C+, C

Good

D

Fair

F

No Pass

 

Faculty are encouraged to consult with the Faculty Directors of each of these degree programs before submitting grades for these nonJD students.  The Associate Dean for Faculty can direct faculty to the appropriate Faculty Director.
