Evening student Ethan Bearman ’19 has a unique relationship with his professors: Some of them end up as his guests on his eponymous radio show.

Host of “The Ethan Bearman Show,” which airs daily from 12-2 p.m. on KGO-810 AM, Bearman regularly draws on Loyola professors’ expertise to assist in his coverage of politics, science, culture and current events. He is also a regular at KABC-AM. Given his status as a law student, it’s no surprise that law is a frequent topic of conversation.

Before law school, Bearman was an IT consultant who worked with Fortune 500 companies. On top of his radio duties, Bearman is currently chief technology officer for TECA Data Safe, a company providing personalized data protection and services to small- and medium-sized businesses.

With a packed work schedule and busy family life, Bearman relishes the flexibility of the evening program. “I have to work extra hard to fit everything in to a day,” he said. “I wake up early in the morning, read the news, film a daily ‘Ethan Explains’ video, do my live radio show, pick up my son from school, head to Loyola, read for the night’s class, attend class, then head home and try to sleep.”

Bearman credits his professors for the dedication they bring to the classroom. “I can’t say enough about the expertise and commitment from all of my professors at Loyola,” said Bearman. “In the evening in particular, I feel like my professors really make it a choice to teach us and I feel their desire for us to learn and succeed.  In the end I know their intention is to make me a better lawyer.”

While the evening program fit his schedule, Bearman finds the makeup of his fellow student body to be a big benefit. “Evening students have a huge advantage over day students,” he said. “The diversity in the classroom adds a dimension that does not exist at the same level in a daytime class.”
