Jose Miguel Azpurua Alfonzo

Biography:

José Miguel Azpúrua Alfonzo holds a Law Degree from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (Venezuela) and two Masters of Laws (LL.M ) from New York University School of Law, where he also obtained an Advanced Professional Certificate in law and business. He also holds a Master of Science Public Policy (M.Sc) from University College London. As an academic, he has been a Lecturer in Business Law at Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and Professor of Economic Analysis of Law at Universidad Monteávila (Caracas, Venezuela). Currently, he is a member of the Competition and Intellectual Property Investigation Unit - GEDCOP - at Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia). 

Before enrolling at Loyola Law School, José was a Visiting Scholar at Columbia Law School, where he conducted research on behavioral economics and the law. Throughout his practice, he has worked as a corporate attorney specialized in international business transactions with Latin America. After his doctoral residency, José became a Partner at a prominent law firm in Colombia, where he leads the Competition Law practice. 

He is admitted to practice in California, New York and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. In 2018, José completed the degree-validation process for admission in the Republic of Colombia.
