Toppling Ladder with Spilling Paint

Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, renowned sculptors and frequent Gehry collaborators, created "Toppling Ladder with Spilling Paint," which resides on the Loyola campus thanks to a gift from the Times Mirror Foundation. Gehry said it reminds him of a law student, running around a building corner, late for class and spilling his backpack. Others have said it reminds them of the scales of justice, teetering between balance and imbalance.
