The Family Law Course of Study is designed for students interested in learning about the legal regulation of family/domestic relationships.
The foundational courses introduce students to the basic regulation of families: constitutional law governing the family, family privacy, marriage and non-marital relationships, having and raising children (including parent-child relationships formed through adoption, reproductive technology, and de facto parenthood), divorce and dissolution, marital property (including California’s community property law), and child custody and support.
Students can use this foundation to further specialize in any of the following areas: Family Law, Marital Property, Child Law, Elder Law, LGBT Law, Special Education and Disability Law.
