Hailey Lane, Loyola Justice for Atrocities Clinic

Hailey participated in the Loyola Justice for Atrocities Clinic’s (LJAC) first-ever hybrid evening cohort — starting in spring 2025 and continuing for an additional two semesters — during which Hailey consistently demonstrated that she not only has the tenacity, diligence, and acumen of a great lawyer, but also the skills of a dynamic team leader and mentor to her peers.

We are so proud of how much Hailey has grown over three semesters, from being unsure of her instincts to confidently leading important oral presentations to senior international prosecutors. She has been a reliable, quick-witted “senior associate” in high-pressure situations, ranging from: staying focused amid late nights finalizing an important brief to meet a tight filing deadline to providing support to clinic supervisors on one of the first-ever video conferences with Syrian survivors and civil society following the fall of the Assad regime. She took on work beyond what was required, and her work product consistently exceeded expectations.

Hailey’s clinic colleagues also speak highly of her. They say she is "often the one who quietly and quickly sets the structure for the rest of us to rely on" or that she "is always willing to respond and is available to offer help, at any hour of the day."

In a word, she is "remarkable" — and we are grateful for her invaluable contributions to LJAC.
