Jacqueline Reyes, Collateral Consequences of Conviction Justice Project

Jacqueline Reyes joined CCCJP in Spring 2024. Jackie completed expungement petitions for clients with multiple convictions, participated in two in-person community expungement workshops, and represented a client with three petitions in a single court hearing. After graduation and the bar exam this summer, Jackie will be working in a large business law firm. Jackie says “CCCJP was a huge factor in my decision to enroll at Loyola. I’ve personally witnessed the negative effects incarceration can have on people’s lives, so I was inspired to use my skills to help those who suffered the consequences of a conviction. While my career aspirations are business focused, participating in the clinic has been incredibly fulfilling. I am able to make a positive impact on the lives of people struggling with reentry. The work CCCJP does has grounded me and reminded me of the importance of genuine human connection. CCCJP clients are determined to succeed and the clinic provides support and understanding to assist them.”
