Attorney Oath - Loyola's Swearing-In Ceremony
If you plan on attending Loyola Law School's Swearing-In Ceremony, and would like to have the presiding judge certify your oath card, you will need to email your virtual oath card to email@example.com by 12 p.m. on May 13. Your virtual oath card will be emailed to you by the State Bar of California Office of Admissions using DocuSign. If you have any questions, please contact the State Bar at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit http://www.calbar.ca.gov/admissions.
Before you email your oath card to Loyola, please make sure you complete the following:
- Please fill in your current contact information on the card. If you do not have a current employer, use your current mailing address. Make sure to include Loyola Law School in the "Law Degree From" section.
- Sign and date the form, but do not sign in the area where the judge signs. For step-by-step instructions, click HERE.
- After you finish, open your oath card by clicking Review Document. From there, you can click Other Actions > Print & Sign.
- Choose Download to download a copy of your oath card to your computer.
After filling out your virtual oath card and downloading the PDF copy, please email the document to the Alumni Office at email@example.com.
Loyola will send the signed oath cards to the State Bar after they have been certified by the judge.
Attorney Oath - Alternate Certification
You can also take the oath and certify your oath card on your own prior to Loyola's Swearing-In Ceremony and still attend as a ceremonial gesture. Do not submit your oath card if you are only taking the oath ceremoniously. There are a number of officials in California who are authorized to administer the oath - click the button below to view the full list. Please note the membership fee schedule below if you plan to certify your oath card on your own.
Public Notary - at Loyola Law School
If you choose to certify your oath card on your own prior to the Swearing-In Ceremony, Loyola Law School offers a public notary on campus. You must make an appointment with Stan Borup by emailing him at firstname.lastname@example.org and follow all covid guidelines in order to be allowed on campus.
Appointments are available Monday through Thursday from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. and 3:15 - 4:15 p.m.
If you would like to apply for admission into the Bar of the Central District of California, you will need to complete the Application for Admission to the Bar of the Central District of California online and pay the application fee.
All licensed attorneys pay annual license fees. Your first year's fees will be based on your date of admission, which is the date upon which you take your oath (May 20, 2022).
We look forward to celebrating with you. If you have any questions, please contact the Alumni Office at email@example.com.
