Prof. Lapp discusses asylum and other immigration processes
Professor Kevin Lapp discussed with KNBC-TV what undocumented immigrants are required to prove in order to gain legal residency in an immigration court case. The segment shared the story of a Salvadoran youth who exemplifies what many immigrants face when partaking in this process.
"The law has various categories and forms of relief and your situation needs to fit into one of those categories," said Lapp. "It's not enough to say conditions in my country are bad and I don't want to go back there,' Lapp said. 'Asylum is meant to aid and avoid human suffering."
