Self-assessment enables informed career choices through analysis of values, interests and abilities.  The better you understand yourself and are able to discuss your reasons for wanting to practice a particular area of law or work for a particular employer, the more impressive you will be in an interview. Moreover, evaluating oneself helps identify what is important in an employer and in a job, increasing chances of long-term career satisfaction.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator:

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a self-assessment tool that can help you learn more effective study strategies, figure out which working conditions allow you to thrive, and discover more about how you and others tick.  The Career Development Center offers the MBTI twice per year to learn more about personality types.

Self-Assessment Exercises:

Part of career planning is identifying preferences and decision-making factors.  These exercises will not answer all your questions about your career path, but are important in assessing your future career and future happiness.  With this information, you can better determine and articulate the type of employment that is likely to suit you best.  Speak with your counselor if you have any questions.
