Steven L. Harmon, a criminal defense attorney for more than 35 years, departed from Harmon & Harmon—the law practice established with his son Christopher—and joined the Law Offices of the Public Defender, Riverside County.  Mark P. Robinson, Jr. received Consumer Watchdog’s Phillip Burton Lifetime Legal Achievement Award at the 2013 Rage for Justice Awards held last June at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel; Robinson was recognized for his four decades as a leading consumer plaintiff attorney.


Philip J. Fischer is the author of Investing in Municipal Bonds:  How to Balance risk and Reward for Success in Today’s Bond Market; Fischer has worked for CityCorp in New York, NY and Merrill Lynch in Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA, and currently serves as a private consultant.  Peter J. Gates was named Orange County Trial Lawyer of the Year for 2012; Gates is managing partner with GatesO'Doherty, Gonter & Guy LLP, specializing in civil litigation defense.  Roman M. Silberfeld’s firm, Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, LLP, was lauded by the Century City Chamber of Commerce last May with the 2013 Corporate Citizen of the Year award for its pro bono work and philanthropy; Silberfeld is the regional managing partner in Los Angeles, and this year marks the firm’s 75th anniversary.

Al Jenkins is the namesake of the Black Proscecutors Association of Los Angeles’ Alfred Jenkins Scholarship Awards Dinner; several notable African American agency leaders were honored at the second annual dinner held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, CA last June.


Dean Herman joined Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck LLP’s Los Angeles, CA office as partner, managing the firm’s insurance practice in the California offices and co-chairing the firm’s national insurance/bad faith practice group.  Judith M. Mitchell, a solo practitioner since 2001, was appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown to the California Air Resources Board; Mitchell is a member of the Rolling Hills Estates City Council and the South Coast Air Quality Management District.


Jeffrey D. Diamond, in addition to his full-time law insurance coverage and litigation practice in Atlanta, GA, serves as an adjunct professor of insurance law at both Georgia State University College of Law and Atlanta's John Marshall Law School; additionally, Diamond was recognized as a 2013 Georgia Super Lawyer.


The Hon. Richard A. Adler ’71, Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, retired last April following 32 years as a trial judge. Adler was among the County’s longest-serving judges.  He was elected to the Los Angeles Municipal Court in 1980 and elected to the Superior Court in 1984, and was the first supervising judge of the Municipal Court’s Night Court program. His various civil and criminal assignments included court houses in Van Nuys and San Fernando Valley, CA.
