Thomas V. Girardi was presented with the inaugural Tom Girardi Special Recognition and Appreciation Award for his dedication and commitment to the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, of which Girardi has been a member since the late 1970s.
Joseph C. Gallas, a private law practitioner in Santa Maria, CA, was reappointed to the 37th District Agricultural Association’s Santa Maria Fair Park Board; California State Senate confirmation is pending. Stephen F. Page was appointed to AeroVironment, Inc.’s board of directors and the board’s audit committee; prior to retiring, Page served in several leadership roles for United Technologies Corp. (divisions of the company include Otis Elevator).
Com. Richard G. Vogl ’68 retired following 26 years on the Orange County Superior Court as a family law panelist. Vogl received the Distinguished Jurist Award in 2005 from the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Southern California Chapter. Recently, the Family Law Section of the Orange County Bar Association honored Vogl for his service to the bench and the community. Vogl has also served as an adjunct law professor and is a prolific writer on family law matters.
The Hon. Lawrence J. Mira ’69 retired from Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, following 26 years on the bench; Mira retired along with the Malibu Courthouse, which closed its doors in May. In recognition of his service to the beach city, the Malibu City Council presented him with a commendation. Mira was referred to as the judge to the stars, given the many celebrity defendants who appeared before him in the courtroom.
