Joint JD/LLM Program

Loyola offers a JD / LLM joint degree program in taxation that allows Loyola students and students from other ABA-accredited U.S. law schools to earn a JD degree and an LLM in Taxation in a total of seven full-time semesters.

Joint degree students must complete the same 24 units of tax coursework as students who matriculate in Loyola’s Tax LLM Program after completing their JD degree.  However, joint degree students are able to complete the LLM requirements in one semester rather than two, because the program permits them to count 12 credits in advanced tax courses satisfactorily completed (with a grade of “B” or better) at Loyola Law School toward both their JD and LLM degrees.  Students from other ABA-accredited US law schools may take advantage of this option by taking summer tax courses at Loyola or by visiting Loyola during their third year of law school.
