Italy Summer Program in Bologna
Program Costs
Tuition and Fees
Tuition for the program is $600 per credit. $350 of the deposit amount, which must accompany the admission application, will be credited toward the cost of tuition. In addition, there is a $100 student activity fee to cover course materials and social events.
Housing Costs
(costs based upon approximately $1.46 to 1 euro and may be different in June)
To insure housing, students must submit a housing application and $350 deposit by February 22nd. The remaining amount due will be paid directly to the hotel or residence apartment in Italy by the individual student. Students who sign up for the three-week program will get priority in housing preference.
Touring Hotel is the main hotel for the program. However, students may opt to stay at the Holiday Hotel or one of the many furnished apartments. Descriptions and costs are detailed below. Please note: all prices listed are per person, per night unless otherwise noted.
The Touring Hotel is a three star, high quality hotel is situated in the center of town and is a ten-minute walk from the University. The current fee ranges from approximately 42 euros ($61) for a quadruple room to 75 euros ($110) for a single room. All rooms have a private bathroom, television, telephone and air conditioning.
The hotel’s roof provides a large balcony where the students can relax, study, etc. The hotel accepts credit cards and the hotel management can arrange special discounts in specific restaurants for its guests. Payment for the stay will be billed and should be paid weekly. All rooms are equipped with Wifi access.
Hotel Holiday is situated in the heart of the University area. The current fee ranges from approximately 39 euros ($57) for a double room to 65 euros ($95) for a single room. All options include breakfast and each room has a bathroom, telephone, satellite TV, minibar and air conditioning.
The hotel also has two residential studio apartments available. Each apartment houses two persons, and the current fee is approximately 34 euros ($50). Breakfast is not included, however room service is provided twice a week.
Residential Apartments are a 20 minutes' walk (or short bus ride) from the university and city center. The apartments are furnished, but many do not have telephones. The current fees are charged on a week, per apartment basis. The actual cost varies depending on the number of rooms and persons per apartment. Thus, prices can range anywhere from approximately 490 euros ($715) for two persons to 700 euros ($1,022) for four persons.
Travel Costs
Travel arrangements (round-trip between the U.S. and Bologna, Italy) are the responsibility of the student and are not included in the program cost.
Financial Aid
Financial Aid in the form of the Federal Graduate PLUS Loan (GPLUS) or private loans may be available to Brooklyn and Loyola Law school students. Students may borrow loan funds up to the cost of attendance (COA). The COA is determined by the Brooklyn Law School Office of Financial Aid and includes tuition and fees, as well as an allowance for room and board, books and supplies, transportation and personal expenses. Under no circumstances can financial aid exceed this cost of attendance.

Consortium Agreements
Students from other law schools wishing to obtain financial aid for the program costs must do so through their home institution. Students should contact the Office of Financial Aid at their home institution to begin the consortium agreement process.
