Live Symposium on Social Justice to be held at Loyola Law School on February 27, 2004 LOS ANGELES -- Loyola Law School will present a live symposium on "Social Justice in the 21st Century" on Friday, February 27, 2004 at 3:30 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review. The public is invited to attend. The panelists will discuss a wide range of social justice topics, including social justice readiness, the war on drugs, gangs and stereotypes, state and federal protections for the disabled, sexual orientation and foster home placement, as well as whether law professors should have a mandatory pro bono requirement (to provide free legal services). The live symposium features top legal scholars: Professors Erwin Chemerinsky and Thomas Griffith of the USC School of Law; Professor John Calmore of the University of North Carolina School of Law; and Professors Gary Williams, Linda Beres, Sande Buhai, and Father Robert Scholla, of Loyola Law School. The panel also welcomes practitioners MaryBeth Lipp from Caldwell, Leslie, Newcombe & Pettit, and James Gilliam, Jr. from Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker.
