Associate Justice Moreno to Address Graduates
at Loyola Law School Commencement on Sunday

LOS ANGELES – The Honorable Carlos R. Moreno, associate justice for the
California Supreme Court, will serve as commencement speaker at Loyola
Law School of Los Angeles’ ceremonies to be held this coming Sunday, May
19 at 2 p.m. on the campus of its parent college Loyola Marymount
University, Westchester. Approximately 7,000 persons are expected to
attend ceremonies for the more than 400 graduates. Loyola Law School
will award three degrees: the Master of Laws in Taxation, the Juris
Doctor, and the Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration (a joint
degree).

Justice Moreno was sworn in as an associate justice of the Supreme Court
of California on October 18, 2001, following his nomination by Governor
Gray Davis. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in political science
from Yale in 1970, and his juris doctor from Stanford Law School in
1975.

Accredited by the American Bar Association and the Association of
American Law Schools, Loyola Law School has the largest enrollment of
law students in California and the largest graduating class annually
among the State’s law schools. The downtown Los Angeles law school’s
bar pass rate is 81 percent [July 2001 state bar exam]. Its employment
rate for alumni within nine months of their graduation is 94 percent
[Class of 2000 survey].
