CJLP
Andre Pennington“The Juvenile Justice Clinic is the perfect bridge between the purely academic setting of law school and the real-life rigors of trial advocacy. Although the Juvenile Justice Clinic stresses mastery of the law and trial advocacy, children are the ultimate concern--all else is a means to that end. It is nice to have been involved with a program that takes pride in its product--the betterment of children.”— Andre Pennington, CJLP Alumnus, Class of 2006
Center for Juvenile Law and Policy

The LLS CJLP was founded with the hope of fostering systemic reform of the Los Angeles Juvenile Justice system by participating in and encouraging research, discussion and advocacy.  The Center provides a place for policy research and advocacy with the goal of providing a voice for children and families involved in the Juvenile Justice System.  The Center is a place where students, faculty, stakeholders and the community all converge with the hope of creating a more humane and responsive justice system for children.  Sound and credible policy advice must be driven by the real world experience of individuals in the court system.  To that end, a central component of the Center is the Juvenile Justice Clinic.
