Job Description Summary:
Provide administrative and secretarial support to members of the Law School Faculty. Compose and edit correspondence, reports, course material and memoranda. Transcribe and type correspondence. Reproduce and distribute correspondence and other materials for assigned professors. Assist professor on various committees. Maintain and distribute confidential files of exams and legal briefs, etc.. Assist faculty members and other s as needed in the operation of computer programs and facilities such as electronic mail, word-processing, printer functions, etc., Provide back-up services to other members of the Faculty Support Services as needed.
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent supplemented by course work in secretarial science and related subjects; course work in work processing and legal secretarial science is highly desirable.
Experience:
Three years of secretarial experience, one of which is in the legal secretarial field.
Knowledge/Ability:
Specialized knowledge of legal terminology and legal methods, including compilation of legal briefs and legal memoranda. Knowledge of creation of web pages and basic web publishing is desirable. Familiarity with web research. Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel. Perform highly sophisticated tasks and make maximum use of the computer systems available. Excellent judgment and the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously. Prioritize and organize workflow to effectively provide service to several members of the faculty as assigned. Modern office methods and practices. Ability to rapidly and accurately transcribe audio-taped material. Maintain confidentiality. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
