Job Description Summary:
Loyola Law School, located in downtown Los Angeles, is looking for a Web Developer to join its Information Technology (IT) team. The incumbent will coordinate the design, development, deployment and maintenance of the Law School’s web sites that are integral parts of the institutional image and educational mission.
Interacting with Administrative Departments, Faculty, and IT programmers the Web Developer will play a key role in extending institutional network-based services by applying both current and emerging technologies.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience:
3 - 5 years of full-time experience working as a web designer/developer (experience in an academic environment a plus). Experience in all aspects of planning and delivering high quality web-based information systems including managing a site’s contents, appearance, and functionality
Knowledge/Ability:
Ability to rapidly assimilate what is necessary to maintain current web sites as well as lead us in to creatively applying the next generation of web/portal technologies; solid understanding of web site architecture, accessibility and usability best practices; knowledge of relevant programming techniques and protocols including fluency in HTML/DHTML, XHTML, CSS, and XML, JavaScript, and PHP; advanced knowledge of Adobe’s Creative Suite (including Acrobat, Contribute, Go Live, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Flash) and similar applications; awareness of W3C standards, client/server issues, browser compatibility issues, and appropriate testing methodologies; knowledge of emerging Web 2.0 concepts and how to implement AJAX-based applications desirable; knowledge of portal management concepts and JSR-168 standards desirable; knowledge of wiki and social networking sites desirable; awareness of web security concepts; ability to gather functional requirements and translate them in to into technical design and development specifications; well-organized and thorough with great attention to detail; excellent oral communication and writing skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a sometimes stressful multi-tasking environment.
