Job Description Summary:
Loyola Law School is searching for an Instructional Technology Manager to oversee the application of classroom technologies, video production facilities, and on-line learning tools. Leading group and one-on-one training sessions are other components of the position. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this person will be a member of the Information Technology Department (ITD) and supervise two full-time technicians. The Instructional Technology Manager is a member of the Instructional Technology Committee and will work closely with Faculty Support and the Committee in identifying and meeting end user needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-develops and implements comprehensive plans to meet technology training needs for faculty, students and staff in the most efficient manner possible
-prepares and conducts classroom training sessions in the use of supported software and services (e.g., Microsoft Office suite)
-works directly with faculty to help promote the application of technology to enhance teaching and learning
-prepares on-line training materials and reports
-prepares reports on the use of instructional technology facilities
-establishes production standards for courseware and training materials
-manage projects and programs that meet broader educational initiatives through technology
-assesses resource requirements to maintain current instructional technology facilities and plan for the future
-researches and identifies new advances in technologies which can enhance the academic mission
-organizes technology support for special events held on campus
-collaborates with other ITD area leaders to provide stellar support for the Law School community
-evaluates and supports exam software used by students during test taking
-serve on the Instructional Technology Committee
-supervises two full-time audio-visual technicians
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred in educational technology or related field.
Experience:
A minimum 3 years experience in technology training with preferably some experience in an academic setting required. A minimum 2 years of supervisory experience including experience overseeing technology training programs and projects.
Knowledge/Ability:
Extensive knowledge of, and experience in, effective training practices for faculty and staff development; experienced in how to supplement traditional classroom learning with non-interactive and interactive multi-media; intermediate web publishing skills; knowledge of classroom technologies including computer presentations, projection systems, audio-video recording, streaming, video conferencing, Smartboards, etc.; knowledge of courseware applications including use of PowerPoint, blogs, Wikis, Sakai/TWEN/Blackboard, social networking, etc.; knowledge of distance learning and virtual classroom concepts; knowledge of video production/editing concepts.
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to work effectively and patiently with end users with varying levels of technical skill; the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a sometimes stressful multi-tasking environment; and the ability to negotiate and adhere to established priorities along with the flexibility/judgment necessary to know when to make exceptions.
