Job Description Summary:

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Conferences and Events, the Events Specialist will work with faculty, Deans, and staff to determine programmatic and operational needs for events.

Education:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, preferred or commensurate experience.  Coursework in event planning, public relations or related field desirable.

Experience:

Minimum 4 years experience with demonstrated progressions of growth and responsibility in special event planning, conference or relevant experience.

Knowledge/Ability:

Qualifications include knowledge of the principles of organization and office management; inventory and budget controls; and proficiency in the use of personal computer hardware and software.  Additionally, the incumbent must have knowledge and the understanding of a university environment, both organizationally and politically.

The successful candidate will possess strong people skills with well developed oral and written communication skills; effective organizational, follow up, and time management skills; and be able to work on several events/projects simultaneously while demonstrating flexibility in working with last minute changes.  Must be able to work independently, utilizing excellent judgment and strong decision making skills.
