Mary Culbert
Professor Culbert is the Director of The Center For Conflict Resolution at Loyola Law School, where she previously served as a senior mediator supervising students. A graduate of Loyola Law School, she returned to Loyola in 1994 as an Adjunct Professor of law and founding Director of the Disability Mediation Center of the Western Law Center for Disability Rights (Currently the Disability Rights Legal Center). After practicing law for several years, Ms. Culbert became a Bilingual Certified Mediator and has mediated extensively since 1992 in numerous community and court programs (over 1500 cases). She served as a resource to local, state and federal agencies regarding the design and implementation of mediation programs. She sat on the California State Bar ADR Committee and Chaired its Ethics Subcommittee since its inception in 1997 until September 2001, where she worked with members of the Judicial Council Working Group to create Ethical Standards of Practice for Mediators in Court-Connected Mediation. She still sits as an advisor to the State Bar ADR Committee today. Ms. Culbert has served on numerous boards and committees over the past 15 years. She has trained and lectured extensively on mediation confidentiality, mediation skills, advanced mediation techniques, disability mediation and legal issues in mediation. She recently served an appointment on the Judicial Council Civil and Small Claims Advisory Committee, ADR Subcommittee Working Group on Uniform Procedures for Addressing Complaints about Court-Program Mediators. In December 2007, Professor Culbert and the program were recognized in the "TOP NEUTRALS" Supplement to the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journals and to the Sacramento Recorder, in the section on "Community Mediators: taking it to the streets." She and Professor Marco Turk are writing a book on mediation ethics.
Marta S. Gallegos
Marta S. Gallegos is the Associate Director and a Mediator at The Loyola Law School Center For Conflict Resolution. She was DRPA trained by Professor Bill Hobbs in 1993, and in 1994 she helped Professor Hobbs establish The Center For Conflict Resolution. Ms. Gallegos is a California Certified Spanish Language Interpreter and a Bilingual Mediator. She has mediated and facilitated hundreds of agreements between parties in various type cases, including family law, landlord/tenant, employment, consumer/merchant, and general civil matters. She has also participated in a number of mediations involving L.A.’s Latino Community. In recent years, Ms. Gallegos has volunteered for DRS – Santa Monica office as well as VMS Buena Fe Mediation Services. Presently, she is a member of the Consejo Consultivo Para el Instituto de Los Mexicanos en el Exterior (CCIME) “Advisory Council to Presidente Felipe Calderón.”
Sara Campos
Sara Campos is the Assistant Director of Case Management, a Certified Bilingual Mediator, an Adjunct Professor of Law, and a full-time staff member. She received her B.A. in Political Science from The University of California Los Angeles and her J.D. from Loyola Law School Los Angeles. Originally trained at The Center as a law student mediator, The Center recruited her to become part of the regular staff. Since that time she has become the Assistant Director of Case Management, supervising staff, students, providing community outreach, support and training. Ms. Campos, along with another colleague, received the 2005 Case of the Year Award from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. She participates on numerous mediation panels including The Los Angeles Superior Court Panel, The Second Appellate District Court Panel, and the United State Equal Employment Opportunity (EEOC) Commission Panel. In addition to her mediating and mentoring, she also teaches Mediation Advocacy and runs the Mediation Advocacy Team at Loyola Law School each year. The Mediation Advocacy Team competes in the “Representing a Client in a Mediation Competition,” sponsored by the Dispute Resolution Section of the ABA.
John S. Rodriguez
John Rodriguez is a Certified Bilingual Mediator and a Senior Mediator at The Loyola Law School Center For Conflict Resolution, since 2002, who has mediated and conciliated thousands of disputes, many involving large and small community conflicts dealing with education,neighborhood councils, ordinances and gangs. Prior to working at The Center, he was Director of Community Mediation Programs at the Disability Mediation Center of the Disability Rights Legal Center (formerly the Western Law Center for Disability Rights) at Loyola Law School. He has extensive experience mediating disability discrimination cases. He was Director of Business and Consumer Services for Dispute Resolution Services of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and volunteered there as a mediator beginning in 1989 until joining the Disability Mediation Center in 1998. John has been a Commissioner on the City of Los Angeles Commission on Disabilities and a former administrator for community-based programs. He also served a consultant to the Departments of Health and Human Services and Labor, and to the Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Language Affairs in Washington D.C. Additionally, he was Corporate Director of Human Resources for a private sector international manufacturing company. In 1997, John received the Peacemaker of the Year Award from the Southern California Mediation Association and was also honored by the Los Angeles County Bar Association receiving the Irving M. Miller Lifetime Achievement Award.
Claudia A. Natera
Claudia A. Natera is a Conflict Resolution Associate/Conciliator at The Loyola Law School Center For Conflict Resolution. She received her Bachelor's Degree with a major in Anthropology from UC Berkeley and a Law Degree from Loyola Law School . Ms. Natera started at The Loyola Law School Center For Conflict Resolution as a clinic extern and held the Pearl Castro Mendez Position and The Center that serves the monolingual Hispanic community through the process of mediation/conciliation. As a student at Loyola Law School she was a Senior Production Editor for Loyola Law School International & Comparative Law Review and she organized Loyola Law School 's Catholic Law Student's Free Legal Clinics at Blessed Sacrament Church in Hollywood . Ms. Natera was a law clerk in a small immigration firm and was a judicial extern to the Honorable Kent M. Kellegrew and the Honorable Thomas J. Hutchinson of the Ventura County Superior Court.
Mary J. Britt
Mary J. Britt is a Senior Conflict Resolution Associate/Conciliator at The Loyola Law School Center for Conflict Resolution. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from University of California, Berkeley, and a Law Degree from Loyola Law School. As a law student, she received mediation training that satisfies the DRPA requirements. At first, she worked at The Center as a student extern, then as a contract Conflict Resolution Associate. She is an attorney.
Jorge Luis Paniagua
Jorge Luis Paniagua is the Outreach Coordinator and a Conflict Resolution Associate/Conciliator at The Loyola Law School Center For Conflict Resolution. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola University Chicago with a major in Philosophy. As an undergraduate, he was President of the Philosophy Club and the Founder/Editor-in-Chief of the undergraduate philosophy journal. He joined The Center as a contract Outreach Coordinator, during which he completed the mediation training that satisfies the DRPA requirements. He is bilingual (English/Spanish).
Angie Marin
Angie Marin is the Coordinating Secretary at The Loyola Law School Center For Conflict Resolution. She previously worked at the Disability Rights Legal Center formerly Western Law Center for Disability Rights as a Learning Rights Associate. She received her legal secretary certificate from The Beverly Hills Bar Association. She has completed the Conflict Resolution Training at The Center For Conflict Resolution at Loyola Law School, and has received training in Advanced Disability Mediation Training. She received the 2005 Award of Merit from The Legal Aid Association of California for her outstanding contribution as support staff at the Disability Rights Legal Center formerly Western Law Center for Disability Right. She is bilingual (English/Spanish).
