Master of Laws (LLM)

Loyola Law School offers a Master of Laws (LLM) degree designed for graduates of foreign law schools.

Loyola's LLM allows students to build a very flexible course schedule based on their unique legal backgrounds. Students must complete a minimum of 24 units to earn the degree, five of which are from required courses. This allows students to specialize in a particular area of law, take a broad survey of topics or establish bar exam eligibility.

Externships and Professional Networking Opportunities

LLM students are eligible for externships with academic credit, which enable them to gain practical experience in their areas of interest. Loyola has long-standing connections with a wide range of law offices and legal departments throughout Los Angeles and Southern California and students have the opportunity to take advantage of these relationships by gaining valuable work experience to complement their academic program.

"I fell in love with the American legal system and wanted to expand my knowledge with an LLM. I chose Loyola because the program allows me to have an externship while taking classes." - Valeria Granata (Italy) - Class of 2014

LLM students have access to Loyola's Career Development Center. LLM students can take advantage of Loyola's numerous extra-curricular activities, students groups, networking and career events, and student social activities.

Located in the heart of downtown LA, Loyola is a short shuttle ride away from the federal courts and major law firms, in addition to main attractions, such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Staples Center. Our students work in Los Angeles' top film companies to prepare and negotiate license agreements for television. They also help conduct felony preliminary hearings and jury trials for the LA County District Attorney's Office. The Law School curriculum features practical skills training and clinical opportunities so students can be prepared for practice.
