How to Apply for Financial Aid
Step 1: 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Complete your FAFSA by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov .
- Use estimated income figures if you have not yet completed your 2008 income tax return. Do not wait until your tax returns are done to complete your FAFSA!
- The federal school code for LLS is E00254.
- Priority deadline is March 30, 2009.
Please note that the federal processor may require you to provide documents to the Financial Aid Office to make your FAFSA complete. The most common are listed below:
- Proof of Citizenship
- Proof of Selective Service Registration
- Copy of your Social Security Card
- Proof of Default Clearance
If requested, please provide the document(s) as soon as possible so that we can continue to process your request for financial aid.
Step 2: Once Loyola Law School receives the processed FAFSA, we will send you an Estimated Award Letter . The Estimated Award Letter is intended to give you an idea of the types and amounts of financial aid that you may receive at Loyola Law School . The Estimated Award Letter will also indicate what additional documents are needed before an Official Award Letter can be sent to you. Please be sure to respond to this request within two weeks.
Step 3: Credit Reports - Your credit history is the major factor lenders consider for approval of the Graduate PLUS loan. Obtain copies of your credit reports from all three credit reporting agencies. It is crucial that you do this now if you plan to obtain a Graduate PLUS loan. This is very important!

- Transunion (www.transunion.com)
Be sure to carefully review your credit reports and begin working on any credit issues that need to be resolved.
Step 4: Non-University or External Scholarships - A variety of scholarships also are available from private sources. Students are encouraged to research these scholarship alternatives. One of the best and most reputable scholarship web site and search engine is FastWeb (www.FastWeb.org).
