While in law school, Dan Schechter served on the UCLA Law Review. After graduation, he practiced in the areas of insolvency, commercial finance and business litigation with the law firms of Gendel, Raskoff, Shapiro & Quittner, Los Angeles, and Levy & Norminton, Beverly Hills. Most of his scholarship is focused on commercial finance and corporate insolvency. Schechter joined the Loyola faculty in 1980.
Professional Memberships and Activities
Member of California State Bar Insolvency Law Committee, 2002 - present; legislative liaison; Schechter recently drafted an amendment to the California Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act that was enacted by the Legislature.
Schechter served as the Reporter for the Bankruptcy Foreclosure Fraud Task Force. The recommendations of the task force were enacted by Congress in 2005 as 11 U.S.C. § 362(d)(4).
Several times each year, Schechter provides continuing legal education programs on current developments in commercial finance and insolvency.
