Gerald McLaughlin was a Root-Tilden scholar at NYU and served as managing editor of the NYU Law Review. After graduation, McLaughlin practiced with the law firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York City. He subsequently taught at the University of Connecticut Law School, Fordham Law Schoo, and Brooklyn Law School, where he also served as associate dean for development. An expert in commercial law, with particular emphasis on the law of letters of credit, McLaughlin has lectured throughout the United States as well as in England, Australia, Hong Kong and New Zealand. McLaughlin joined the Loyola faculty as dean in 1991.
