Health & Safety
Study-abroad programs offer an exciting opportunity for learning and cultural exchange. It is very important for students to be prepared to negotiate cultures and environments that may differ vastly from their own. However, proper preparation is imperative to avoid increased risk of illness or injury due to cultural and environmental differences such as climate extremes, the presence of certain insect-borne diseases, inadequate sanitation and poorly lit roads. These risks become greater in developing regions of the world.
LLS is committed to the promotion of study-abroad programs as a vital component of student development. Studying in another country is a valuable means of personal growth. We make every attempt to assess the safety of our students who study abroad. To that end, students, parents, and program faculty and staff should be aware of customary safety precautions as well as those specific concerns relating to the location of the program.
