Law Association of Asia and the Western Pacific Team

LAWASIA is an international organization of lawyers' associations, individual lawyers, judges and legal academics from the Asia Pacific region. Since its inception in 1966, LAWASIA has built an enviable reputation among lawyers, business people and governments, both within and outside the region, as a committed, productive and genuinely representative organization. Past problems have involved the right of one country to cross the borders of another country in search of terrorists; the duty of care required of the shipper of perishable fruits and vegetables; and the right of a franchisee to depart from the franchisor's regulations to conform to the customs and practices of local consumers.

Loyola Law School is the only U.S. law school to be invited to participate in this moot, creating a unique opportunity for its students.  Loyola has participated in LAWASIA Moot in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam; and Seoul, South Korea. It has competed against law schools from Australia, China, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, India, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Singapore. Students receive two units of credit.
